Autistic behavior improves with fever

In a study in 2007 published by the prestigious medical journal Pediatrics, reported that autistic spectrum behaviors such as irritability, hyperactivity, stereotypy, and inappropriate speech improved with fever greater than 100.4F. This improvement was transient but does question the origin of autistic spectrum behaviors. Could there be an unknown benefit to fever that could be therapeutic? https://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/120/6/e1386
